Brad MacLaughlin

Dr. Brad MacLaughlin loves to identify and foster innovative approaches to education. That’s why he is instrumental in implementing the cutting edge Academies of ISD program. He also oversees all instructional and educational activities in the Independence School District’s middle and high schools.

Before coming to the ISD in 2013, he spent 14 years in the Lexington (Mo.) School District- the last four as superintendent. Prior to that, Brad was a Missouri State Trooper. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State), his master’s at Central Missouri State (now UCM) and his specialist and doctorate degrees at William Woods University.

Brad and his wife Betsy have three children; Anna (17), Ellie (14) and Luke (12). He is very glad to be a small part of the KCSF team and looks forward to helping shape the future of education across the Metro.
